This may be our last chance to save bus service in Seattle. The Seattle City Council voted last week to place a Seattle-only, transit-only measure on the November 4th general election ballot. The plan will preserve transit service within the city of Seattle limits and along key inter-city routes, preventing a majority of planned bus cuts due to King County Metro funding shortfalls.
This transit-only funding measure gives us a chance to preserve bus service Seattleites depend on to get to work, school, and appointments. The campaign, Yes for Seattle Transit!, is just getting off the ground and we need your help.
In the coming weeks, we need:
- Bus Route Captains: Get the word out on your route. Is your bus on the chopping block? Join fellow bus riders and be a Captain in the fight to save YOUR bus.
- Tabling Events: Volunteer to give out information on transit service in Seattle at Farmer’s markets and around Seattle.
- Your endorsement and your organization’s endorsement of the campaign, Yes for Seattle Transit.
Transit essential to our economy, our environment, and our communities. We need you to make sure that cuts do not happen. Show your support and help us win! Contact Kate, Field Director at Transportation Choices for additional details!
