TCC’s Matthew Sutherland (Foreground, left to right) and Tracy Oster and Laura Svancarek of Downtown: On the Go! joined members of the Tacoma City Council to proclaim June to be Ride Transit Month.

June is Ride Transit Month — but don’t take our word for it!

Jurisdictions across Washington are issuing formal proclamations making June officially Ride Transit Month. These formal proclamations are a way for city and county leaders to say clearly that transit is an important part of our communities, and deserves our attention and support.

As of today, 15 jurisdictions have issued formal Ride Transit Month proclamations, including King County, Pierce County, Clallam County, and Jefferson County, as well as the cities of Kirkland, Lacey, Lakewood, Olympia, Port Angeles, Redmond, Tacoma, Seattle, Shoreline, and Vancouver, and the Kitsap Transit Board. We’re keeping track of them in the spreadsheet below, which will stay up-to-date:

If you live or travel in one of these places you can get in on the now official celebration by riding transit during June! Share a photo of your rides on social media with #RideTransitMonth and tag us @transpochoices. And you can get even more involved in the celebration by taking the pledge to ride, sporting some Ride Transit gear, and joining us at any of our upcoming events. See you on the bus!
