Welcome to Transportation Choices’ Weekly Dispatch and the first day of the 2023 WA State Legislative Session! This email will arrive in your inbox early each week and provide highlights about what’s happening in the Washington Legislature, including upcoming events, bill status, and ways to take action.
Our weekly dispatch is a great way to stay informed about the latest developments on legislation impacting WA state transportation, our climate, and communities.
If you haven’t already, check out our 2023 Legislative Agenda. Our top priority this year is repealing Washington’s harmful jaywalking laws, which disproportionately impact low-income communities and communities of color. Learn more at freetowalkwa.org.
Session begins today, January 9th and ends Monday, April 24th.
This year’s session is hybrid so you can testify, sign in on bills, or engage with legislators virtually and in person. When bills in committee have a public hearing, you can sign up as “pro,” “con,” or “other” or sign up to testify. We’ll make sure to let you know when these opportunities arrive.
You can learn more about session, committee schedules, and more on the Washington State Legislature website.
And stay tuned for the launch of our bill tracker, where you can see the current status of important bills we’re tracking.
Ride on!
