Dear friends,
It’s time to take action! Two of our top-priority bills were pulled from their respective Rules committees late last week. Now they are on the floor of the Senate and House. These bills could be voted on at any time — now is the moment to voice your support.
Senate Bill 6148 would allow Sound Transit to issue 75 year bonds, giving them more flexibility to build light rail as fast as possible and avoid cutting projects.

Last week, we testified in support of House Bill 2727, which would create a grant program to provide free transit passes to students at community and technical colleges. This is the successor to HB 2550, which we previously voiced our support for. This new bill adds funding and ensures it’s easy for transit agencies to implement. And it would be a game-changer for many students across Washington, like these Highline College students who came to Olympia to support the bill.

We were also excited to see that House Bill 2307 passed out of the Transportation Committee with unanimous support last week! This bill would update Washington’s Commute Trip Reduction law, expanding the commute hours allowed under the law to support more low-income and shift workers. Kudos to our friends at Move Redmond who are leading the charge on this bill.
This week, we’ll start to see more bills being pulled to the floor of the House and Senate for a vote. Keep an eye on our Bill Tracker for updates on other bills we’re watching this session.
Ride on!
