Ben Franklin Transit serves Benton and Franklin Counties as the only transit agency in the region. The agency currently has higher than expected revenues, thanks to robust sales taxes this year. This should be a time to catch up on deferred repairs and maintenance, invest in new vehicles and infrastructure, and improve the services this agency provides for Benton and Franklin County residents.
Instead, some members of the agency’s Board of Directors see this as a chance to slash funding for the agency and permanently erode the services it can provide. The Board is currently considering two proposals to cut funding directly or bring a funding cut ballot measures to voters. We are asking the Board to vote NO on both of these proposals.
