The 2024
Washington State Legislative Session is right around the corner, and we are excited to release Transportation Choices’ new legislative agenda! Check it out here.

This session, we’re continuing our effort to end harmful jaywalking enforcement by passing Free to Walk, introduced in 2023 as SB 5383. We’ll also be educating lawmakers on transit safety, the workforce shortage, and future revenue options for transportation funding. Most importantly, TCC will defend the Climate Commitment Act, the primary funding source for the 2022 Move Ahead Washington transportation package. These vital investments are at risk, and we need the legislature to stand firm for climate justice and our shared future.

Starting January 8, the legislature will officially convene over the course of 60 days to take on the climate crisis, fix funding gaps related to Washingtons’ culvert requirements and the electrification of our ferries, and revive many bills that didn’t cross the finish line last year. The legislature will continue as a hybrid session, allowing people to participate from anywhere virtually. This means you can communicate with your lawmaker or testify on bills from home!

If you want to get involved, sign up for our weekly Dispatch from Olympia, where we send out vital updates and action alerts. There will be opportunities to write to your legislators about specific bills, take a position on bills, or even testify.

Please check out our legislative agenda, and join us this year to help us keep fighting for safe, equitable, and sustainable transportation for all Washingtonians.

If you have questions or want to learn more about any of our 2024 legislative priorities, please reach out to Transportation Choices’ Advocacy Director, Matthew Sutherland, at matthew@transportationchoices.org.
