A message from Shefali Ranganathan, TCC Executive Director.

We won!

Voters in the Puget Sound region have said YES to the most significant transit expansion of our generation with the approval of Sound Transit Proposition 1.

It hasn’t quite sunk in yet.

Transportation Choices has been working towards this moment for a long time – from securing the authority in Olympia, to the development of the Sound Transit 3 plan, and finally leading the strong and diverse coalition of business, labor, environmental and social justice organizations to win.

We put it all on the line, because this is what we are about – affordable, and sustainable communities connected by great transit.

Our region will be more resilient and prosperous with this investment in transit infrastructure. It will also be more inclusive and connected for all its residents.

This wasn’t the only transit victory on election night. Voters in the Spokane region said YES to more and better bus service. TCC was so proud to support the Yes for Buses campaign. In addition, the Kitsap Transit measure to add passenger-only ferries and bus service, is also passing.

Despite the uncertainty at the national level, one thing is clear. Washington residents want more transportation options to get them where the need to go! This has been an incredible year for TCC. Our staff and Board worked tirelessly to expand transit with wins in Ellensburg, Spokane, and the Puget Sound region. I am so proud of our team.

Finally, I want to thank you, our supporters, partner organizations and members of our community, for believing in TCC and our mission. We are stronger and more effective because of you.
