Remember the good ‘ol days when you could catch the 1 down 6th Ave after the bars closed, or take the 57 to the mall on Sunday for a new pair of pants? Remember when thousands of families weren’t forced into cars that they can’t afford or maintain because the bus allowed them the freedom to get to work on time?

We all know that robust transit service is crucial to the economic, environmental, and public health of Pierce County.  Simply put, the past cuts to public transit in our community have resulted in inadequate service levels and public discord. Insufficient transit service has led to resounding negative effects our county’s collective economic growth potential.

As transit advocates and fellow Tacomans we are urging you to attend an important opportunity to weigh in on who will lead Pierce Transit into its next chapter. Please join us Wednesday, April 1st at the Community Stakeholder meeting to meet and hear from the two Pierce Transit CEO finalists.

In October of last year we sent a letter to the Pierce Transit board. We urged the board to work with community advocates from across sectors to ensure that this important decision puts the agency, and our transit service, on a positive path towards stability, community support, and transit service restoration. We are now urging you to stand up and let your voice be heard. Together, we can create a new pro-transit story across Pierce County.
