Miriam Castro is the program manager of U District, Let’s Go, a year long pilot program helping connect people working, living and visiting the U District with transportation resources. She coordinates neighborhood walks and meets with small businesses, community organizations and individuals to learn more about their transportation needs. Core to the program is equity; ensuring that anyone who wants to travel to and through the neighborhood has the ability to do so. Miriam has lived in Seattle for the several years and has worked in a variety of capacities including a nearly nine year career working with a small farm selling tomatoes at several Farmers Markets. She spent the past five years with the UW working in fundraising and then as an outreach specialist with UW Transportation Services where she was introduced to the world of multi-modal transportation. She fell in love with everything it represented, especially as it relates to social equity. In her spare time, Miriam loves to write, read, ride her bicycle, garden, cook, name random tomato varieties AND their uses, drink wine, and travel.
