A good bus system is the backbone to a thriving region. With 53% of people traveling to
vibrant downtown Seattle each day arriving by bus, carpool, or vanpool, it's hard to imagine how the
people who come to work, play, and shop in our urban centers could get around, much less find a parking
spot if we did not have a good bus system.
And buses benefit more than just large cities. Of the 150 million bus trips taken in 2003, over
18 million were made in areas like Pullman and Yakima, far from a large city. In fact, there are
over 25 transit agencies in virtually every corner of Washington.
